Disabled Alaskans / Catastrophic Illness / Seniors

Alaska is a diverse and geographically challenging state. There are many programs for assisting Alaskans. The biggest issue in meeting the needs of those who need help is communications.

There is no excuse for Alaskans not to have access to or knowledge of available assistance. I will work to ensure that Alaskans have access to those services that they need.

I will direct Health and Human Services to provide a means to collect and disseminate information on various programs that the State administers to those in need. I will work to see that HHS does its job to get needed help for Alaskans in need.

I will work to see that seniors have access to that information in Senior Centers throughout the State. I will direct HHS to provide training for senior volunteers to assist senior citizens and their families in knowing where to go and who to contact for needed services.

It is imperative that we build the all-Alaska natural gas pipeline to provide funding for State services.
