Bill Walker Statement on Ralph Samuels’ Announcement
Bill Walker Statement on Ralph Samuels’ Announcement
Anchorage, Tuesday, December 8, 2009
Today Bill Walker issued the following statement regarding Ralph Samuels’ announced campaign for governor:
“Ralph Samuels’ announcement that he is entering the race for governor will present Alaskans with well defined choices in the August primary. I did not run based on who the competition might be. I believe Alaskans understand that my campaign theme of “All-Alaska Governor” is not just about an All-Alaska Gasline but it means All Alaska jobs, affordable energy to All Alaskan homes and businesses and economic stability for Alaskans for decades to come. It also means enhanced state revenues to finance All Alaskan education, roads, public safety, and essential government services in light of the drastically reduced state revenues anticipated as the oil flow through TAPS continues to decline. If Alaskans are ready to take back the control of our economic and energy future, then I will emerge as the Republican candidate in the general election.”
Bill Walker is a lifelong Alaskan. At age 27, he was elected Mayor of Valdez and began his advocacy of the All Alaska Gasline. He has lived in Anchorage since 1988 where he owns a law firm and serves as general counsel and project manager for the Alaska Gasline Port Authority. Bill has also owned construction, tourism and real estate businesses for over thirty years.
